After working six years on Bay Street, I’ve pretty much wiped the word “suit” from my wardrobe vocabulary. I swapped my collared blouses and slacks for dainty dresses and never looked back! The idea of a full floral suit certainly evokes warms feelings of summer, but there’s a fine line between chic and overkill. When I saw this floral short suit by MINKPINK, I knew it would strike the perfect balance for chic summer style!

The lightweight fabrication of this floral short suit combined with a playful print make it something you can style all summer – you can mix and match the separates too!
I just got a new day job at a software company and while I get to work from home most of the time, sometimes I have to fly to Florida to our other offices for business meetings. I’m not really a suit person, but it’s important to dress professionally in the corporate world. I can usually pull this off with a ladylike work dress, pencil skirts and blazers, but this season I challenged myself to find a suit I actually like. When I saw this lace and tweed peplum suit at Ann Taylor, I was sold.
Lace & Tweed Peplum Top: Ann Taylor, Tall Tweed Cropped Pants: Ann Taylor, Suede Cap Toe Mid Heels:Ann Taylor, Bracelets: Ann Taylor, Necklace: Shop for Jayu, Watch and Purse: Michael Kors
I love the peplum top – such a unique twist on the classic suit. The shape is feminine, trendy and the mixed media with lace and tweed is eye-catching and on-trend!
Today’s Dainty Outfit is classic and professional with a trendy twist! The peplum blouse breathes new life into the basic black pantsuit, especially in the season’s hottest colour – burgundy, maroon, oxblood…whatever you wanna call it.
I can’t give all the credit to the peplum blouse however; if it weren’t for the chic cropped tuxedo style blazer, this lovely peplum would be all covered up! I usually find cropped jackets and blazers quite awkward and boxy, but this long in front / short in back style drapes beautifully without hiding my figure. I love how the peplum peaks out in the back!
I chose basic skinny black pants to complete this classy peplum suit look and added some contrast with my Sneha Varma shoulder bag in rust and statement making leopard booties! The finishing touch: black and brass collar candy and matching bracelets!
