Walmart Frugal Heroes Challenge

Nationwide, Walmart is calling on Canadian shoppers to challenge themselves to make the most of their dollar by shopping the lowest prices and saving. This month, I had the pleasure of participating in the first ever Walmart Frugal Heroes Challenge.

Walmart Frugal HeroesWalmart Canada declared Thursday, May 2nd its National Day of Savings and to kick off the campaign, they invited bloggers from coast-to-coast to find cost-effective solutions for every day budget challenges. I like to consider myself a savvy shopper but sometimes my credit card statement says otherwise – needless to say, I was thrilled to take the challenge to save money.

Walmart Canada provided me with a $100 gift card to shop and share the Frugal Heroes Challenge. How much did I get for $100 or less?

It’s that time of year again! I love playing dress up for seasonal photo shoots and this time it’s all about spring in the city! With so much fabulous fashion in Toronto, it brings me great joy to share my favourite local designers and boutiques with you.

When I discovered this beautifully curated local gem, I knew I’d be back for an editorial adventure! Introducing, Coal Miner’s Daughter

Dainty Outfit: Stripes Again?!

This dress was actually featured in my first Dainty Outfit post back in February! As you can see, this versatile striped number from ModCloth works in winter with tights and booties – as well as spring with bare legs, sandals and a pop of colour!

I love the playful stripes, the gently puffed sleeves and the deep v-back (shown in previous post), but most of all, I love the quality and cut of this dress. The fabric holds it shape so well and the full skirt has a great twirl to it!

I chose pink as my accent colour with bold lips and nails plus this adorable shoulder bag from H&M. The mahogany trim on the purse matched my t-strap sandal heels from Aldo and I tied it all together with gold accessories.

I think I have a thing for stripes lately…

Dainty Outfit: Polka Dot Pretty

Happy Friday Everyone! It’s a rainy day in Toronto, and I’m working from home in my pajamas! So while there’s no Dainty Outfit today, I do want to share what I wore yesterday!

This dress is another ModCloth purchase and I love the way it subtly combines colours and patterns. Mixed prints are hot this season, but I’m a little weary to go all out on this trend especially when I’m at the office. Featuring a nautical blue and white elastic waistband and a lightweight navy polyester skirt with hot pink polka dots – this dress comes together beautifully with the heather grey tank top. I love keeping it simple and classic while still playing with fun colours and patterns.

It was a little chilly yesterday so I threw on a long sleeve, cropped sweater from H&M in a heather-grey colour that matched the underlying grey tank top on the dress. I love the twisted front of this sweater – it hit just the right spot to show off that fun striped waistband!

I kept my accessories simple with clear and silver jewellery, nude canvas wedges and a matching nude tote purse. Of course, I also had bright pink lips to match my polka dots! You like?

The Destination Dress is no longer available, but it was my third purchase from ModCloth back in 2009 and I still love it! ModCloth and I have been going steady ever since ;)

Nautical stripes may not have been all over the Spring 2012 runways, but they’re flooding into stores! Many of my favourite shops are stocking up on nautical styles for spring and summer and I’m loving the preppy Parisian look! Sharp stripes, fresh whites and natural fabrics are perfectly on trend, but remember to take it easy – too many anchors and rope bracelets and you might as well walk the plank!

Check out my favourite spring nautical pieces full steam ahead!
