MasterCard Canada Black Friday Deals

It’s HERE!

Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season with a frenzy of fabulous deals from our favourite retailers, online and in-store. Opening early and closing late, stores will boast promotions and discounts of many varieties – some even 50-70% off – and the sales typically last a few days. It’s been a post-Thanksgiving shopping tradition in the States since the 1960′s and tons of stores have jumped on the bandwagon, including many north of the border!

You don’t have to be a fashionista to know about Black Friday; deals extend to electronics, home furnishings, housewares, toys, travel and so much more. But the truth is, while many Canadian retailers have jumped on the Black Friday bus, the deals are still better in the States, causing many Canadians to literally jump on a bus to go shopping there! And let’s not forget the painful shipping and duty fees if you’re shopping online.

MasterCard Canada wants to bring the incredible American Black Friday Deals to Canadians and have been working closely with top US retailers to deliver Black Friday deals north of the border!

From November 22 – December 10, MasterCard cardholders will receive perks like free shipping, duty-free and discounts! Participating retailers include Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, Macy’s, Gilt and many others. In addition to taking advantage of the fabulous Black Friday discounts these retailers offer, we can forget about the shipping and duty woes too!

All of the the offers will be featured in a tab labelled “Black Friday” on the MasterCard Canada Facebook page. With discounts and shipping promos extending through to December 10th, you can take your time to put together the wishlist of your dreams! Dainty Outfit: Flounce Back Flirty

I’m always drawn to dresses with interesting back details. At first glance this colourful printed BCBGeneration dress is sweet, but the open flounce back brings flirty feminine appeal to this otherwise simple dress. I bought this perfect summer frock from Macy’s while I was in Chicago two weeks ago and I have worn it for both work and play since!

This fully lined rayon dress is soft and comfortable with a loose pullover style, elastic waistband and two front pockets. The v-neckline, low cut open flounce back and rounded hem are eye-catching and cute!

For work on a hot day, I wore it with my long crochet vest from Smart Set to cover the open back in the office. I also tried it on with a black blazer and pumps for another cute office look on a cooler day. For my day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, I wore it au naturale with minimal accessories and enjoyed the breeze through the open back! Definitely one of my favourite dresses of the season!

 

NYC Day 2: Shop Shop Shop

NYC Day 2: Midtown Shopping Extravaganza! This morning Macy’s NYC opened at 10am and I was there shortly after ready to start my fun day of shopping! Since this is the President’s Day long weekend in the States, I knew that Macy’s would be having some sales. TIP: Macy’s provides all tourist visitors a 10% discount card that’s good for one week; just go to the visitors centre and show your ID. Awesome!

My goal for Macy’s was to find a discount on the Michael Kors Hamilton Tote - and I did! It was cheaper than I had seen it in Canada and I got my 10% off too!

 

 

 

 

 

I also toured the other women’s floors and found some great sales on apparel and shoes and settled on these two items:

Tonight, we’re going to get some fresh Mexican food at Dos Caminos in Soho. Can’t wait!

NYC Shopping: Neighbourhoods & Stores

I LOVE NYC!

The shopping, the restaurants, the nightlife…everything! One of my closest girlfriends is lucky enough to live there and by association, I get to have a free place to stay when I visit! Hooray! When Porter airlines offers 50% off flights, I’m crazy not to go for a round trip that costs only $250. With so many unique neighbourhoods and countless department stores and boutiques, it’s impossible to choose a top 3 or even a top 10.

What I’ll try to do with this post, is show you some of my favourite shopping neighbourhoods and some go-to places for great deals and unique styles.

NYC Here I Come!

Dainty Girl is going to New York City tomorrow!!! I’m so excited :) I took my first trip to NYC two years ago and have been back 6 times since! It’s pretty addictive with such wonderful shopping, restaurants and nightlife. I LOVE Macy’s at Herald Square and shopping the boutiques in Soho. NYC is the only city where I wish there were 10 meals per day so I can try more delicious restaurants! Definitely need to get some Grimaldi’s pizza (BEST EVER) and for this visit, I’m hoping to try Mario Batali’s Eataly and have some fresh Mexican at Dos Caminos.
