Dainty Outfit: Leopard Print Sweetie

Categories: Fashion

Leopard print doesn’t always have to be “fierce” or sexy. It can be playful and sweet too!

I found this dress at Smart Set last year and instantly fell for the soft, subdued leopard print and the feminine shape. It’s sleeveless with a gathered elasticized waist, billowy full skirt and the lining is stretchy and comfortable underneath the sheer printed overlay. The button up collar is cute and gives me endless options for fun collar candy like this gorgeous Shop For Jayu necklace.

I love pairing leopard print with a bold accent colour so I topped this dainty dress with a bright red cropped waterfall blazer! I anchored the look with black opaque tights, lace up booties and a simple black handbag. It’s leopard print that you can wear to the office too!

Feels very wholesome yet stylish girl next door to me! What do you think?

Dainty Outfit: Winter Cream Dress

Categories: Fashion

Today’s outfit features one my dainty faves. I picked up this cream dress from Zara a couple of years ago and while it may seem like the perfect spring style, I actually prefer it in the winter!

The soft creamy colour is a safe spring choice, but the black lace inserts open up all kinds of seasonal possibilities! The material is thick and stretchy (viscose) with a beautiful fitted bodice and flared hi-low skirt. I like to pair this cream dress with opaque tights and my black lace-up booties for a warm and dainty winter look. It’s a softer pre-spring version of the black and white trend that’s about to take over!

Cream DressI chose gold and black jewellery to complement the black accents in the dress. I especially love how the spikes on my Minling Pan Studio neckace sit along the Peter Pan style lace inserts at the neckline. For a pop of colour, I wore my burgundy Mini MAC and soft red lips.

Love this fresh and dainty winter look! Would you wear cream/white in the winter?

Dainty Outfit: Black, White & Leopard

Catching up on my Dainty Outfit posts! I started out a little uncertain about Monday’s look, but once I combined black, white and leopard, I loved the way it came together! I picked up this classic black and white blouse from Smart Set as part of the LOULOU itGIRL competition (I won BTW :) ) and it’s honestly one of the most versatile blouses I own. Not only is this a classic colour combo, but it’s SO hot right now and the shape of the blouse makes it look great whether it’s tucked in or not.

I’ve paired this baby with all colours of jeans and skirts, but I’ve never contemplated wearing it with my velvet leopard print pants from LOFT. I’m so glad I did because the white really pops and the black piping in the blouse tied it all together. My other favourite colour to wear with these pants is bright red and I’ve got a burnt orange blouse that I’ll be trying next!

My burgundy Mini MAC shoulder bag provided the perfect complimentary colour and naturally I chose a coordinating lipstick! I really like the Jewelmint Golden Shift Choker – it fits perfectly in the neckline of the blouse and the orange diamond shaped stones looked great with the colours in my outfit. Here’s a close up:

Dainty Outfit: Emerald Green Lace

Last night,  I was invited to the advanced screening of Safe Haven and I found myself asking the age-old question…what to wear? It was a red carpet premiere with the stars in attendance and while I love any chance to play dress up, I also didn’t want to go overboard. The red carpet is for the celebs after-all ;)

So I promised not to wear sequins and picked something from my closet that’s dressy without being over the top. I polled my friends online to help me choose between a few different dresses and decided on the Fast Anna Lace dress from French Connection. Didn’t hurt that it’s the Pantone colour of the year – emerald green!

Emerald Green

This is such a feel good colour that works for all seasons! Last night, I paired it with opaque tights, leopard booties and black/gold accessories. I love my new necklace from Minling Pan Studio and this sparkly (yet subtle) clutch by Kara Ross NY!

I definitely felt a little over-dressed, but I am Dainty Girl after all! Check out more photos from the red carpet and my thoughts on Safe Haven HERE.

Dainty Outfit: LBD & Leopard

Categories: Fashion

I have been in a bit of a pants and moto boots phase since the holidays – my feet got used to slippers! I’m slowly getting my dainty back with dresses and heels and today I reached for a classic LBD (little black dress – but if you’re reading this blog, you already know that).

There’s nothing like a LBD to make a gal feel elegant, confident and sexy. I picked up this classic LBD at French Connection a couple of years ago and it’s been a staple ever since. It’s structured enough to be office appropriate and slinky enough for cocktails. I love the thick, stretchy knit, long sleeves and subtle pleats at the bust and waist. It honestly feels like a luxurious fitted sweatshirt that hugs all the right curves!

LBD

Sometimes I add a skinny belt in a bold colour (depending on the season and my footwear choice), but today I opted for edgy collar candy and leopard booties. It’s a great look for fall/winter, especially with my burgundy Minkoff Mini MAC and matching red lips! This LBD transitions well into spring too, with colourful accessories and bare legs.

Trying not to walk with too much swagger today, but this dress makes me feel so good! Do you have a confidence boosting LBD? Aren’t they just fabulous?!

PS – My new ombré hair really pops against the black dress! Like this subtle hair colour trend? Stay tuned for my blog feature coming soon!
