What’s hot for fall 2013? Burgundy and leather (among other trends). So naturally, when I spotted this burgundy faux leather peplum at Le Chateau, I knew it would be a fabulous and trendy addition to my fall wardrobe – for less than $60 CAD!
I love this rich red colour and I’m stocking up on everything from lipstick and nail polish to shoes and handbags! This faux leather peplum is stunning in burgundy and it looks and feels like real leather for a fraction of the price – plus it’s lined so it doesn’t stick to your skin.
I styled my new peplum with cuffed distressed denim and zip-up suede ankle booties for an edgy-chic look – perfect for a night out in the city!
You could also wear this faux leather peplum with skinny black pants or a fitted pencil skirt for a more elegant look, but I would stay away from baggy bottoms or flared skirts because the peplum shape has enough volume for the entire look.
I chose to wear my hair in a sleek ponytail to really emphasize the shape of the top. It’s beautifully fitted in the bodice and the peplum really holds its shape in the faux leather fabric. The exposed zipper in the back runs from top to bottom and it’s really eye-catching with an up-do as well!
Fall weather can be unpredictable – warm during the day but chilly at night, so I always bring a jacket with me just in case. This look is perfect for my cropped faux leather jacket from GUESS with an asymmetrical zip – but I just leave it open to let the peplum peek through.
With leather apparel and a sleek ponytail I decided to keep my accessories simple – small stud earrings, simple bracelet and my rose gold quilted handbag to brighten up the look. For my makeup, I focused on bold brows, a little contour in the cheek and a matte red lip.
What do you think of my edgy-chic look with a leather peplum and distressed denim?
