Earlier this week, I attended the French Connection + Elle Canada Shop with the Editors event. It was a fun and fashionable evening with cocktails, appetizers, giveaways, makeup demos by Lancôme and of course spring fashion and shopping!
The temptation to shop is crazy for me this spring…I usually only gravitate to a couple of the trends, but I’m drawn to so many this season. I love the bold colours and soft pastels, the lace, silk, florals and prints, the minis, maxis and pleats…oh my.
The spring collection and show at French Connection definitely heightened the allure.
Surrounded by Toronto’s trendsetters, I enjoyed the spring fashion show along with charming narrative from the Editors at Elle Canada. I instantly related to Ally Dean‘s obsession with sequins and Alannah O’Neill‘s edgy affection for leather jackets over dainty dresses. Each look was a wearable reflection of the hottest runway trends with beauty advice to complement the vision.
French Connection has never been shy with colour so I wasn’t surprised to see them embrace the colour blocking trend so perfectly with geometric dresses, billowy blouses and contrasting skinny jeans, trousers or shorts.
I love the fresh pastel florals, edgy prints, 70′s inspired styles and a stunning maxi dress reminiscent of soft clouds in a blue sky. So many loose and airy styles this spring – and who doesn’t love stylish and comfortable looks?! I’m not a big fan of the super wide pajama pants, but I love the gently pleated, Ten Stretch cotton-blend trousers in bold colours with a loose fit in the hips and thighs while still slim at the ankles.
I would love to scoop up most of these spring looks, but the sequin dresses stole the show for me. Without fail, French Connection produces quality, affordable and sexy little party dresses each season and the spring collection has a few stunners! My favourite has to be the Sparkle Hour Dress – copper and gold-tone sequins give it a vintage feel and the shift silhouette keeps it contemporary and easy to wear. I can see myself wearing it with soft loose curls, subtly winged eyeliner, coral lips and sky-high platforms! *Swoon*
After the fashion show, I saw a tons of orange, red and coral on the racks and a nautical section too. Lots of soft fabrics and sparkly embellishments in addition to FCUK’s casual staples and fun printed tees. It’s obvious that French Connection has a solid grasp on the latest trends while staying true to their essence. Check out the new arrivals in-store or online.
Happy spring shopping!
