Festival Style with Medulla & Co.

I recently teamed up with my friends at Medulla & Co. salon for a fun and playful festival style photo shoot. We have so much fun when we collaborate and the results are always FABULOUS hair! This time, since we’re in the middle of festival season, my favourite hair gurus pulled together some amazing festival-worthy hair styles.

I love how both looks incorporate colourful hair extensions in totally different ways! I mean if you can’t play with colour for music festival season – when can you?! Keep reading to see more photos from the shoot, including the full outfits!

The first look is perfect for a super hot day when you just need to wear your hair up. Stylist Kelly Araujo at Medulla & Co. clipped in a soft pink hair extension that was then woven through my natural hair with a chic fishtail braid. She created a gorgeous updo by wrapping the braid around the high-ponytail and securing it with bobby pins – it’s easier than it looks!

I styled this updo with a soft and simple ivory mini-dress (Lovers + Friends from Shopbop) and fringe suede sandals (DSW Canada). I love how the colour in my hair pops against the ivory dress – it’s the ultimate accessory! Makeup artist Rebecca Pilozo made my eyes sparkle with soft pink and smokey grey shimmer with bold lashes. The finishing touch was another pop of pink on my lips!

IMG_4585 IMG_4590 IMG_4583 IMG_4606 IMG_4608 IMG_4614For the second look, Kelly took my hair down, gave me a deep side part and clipped in some fabulous multi-coloured hair extensions – so fun! She finished the look by adding a soft, beachy wave with a curling iron and spritzing it with a sea salt spray for texture and light hold. This hairstyle looked perfect with the same makeup as the previous look and I felt like I was channeling Jem from the 80’s!

I styled this look with a colourful over-the-shoulder romper (Lovers + Friends from Mendocino) and I love how the colour in my hair amplifies the green and blue in the romper. With a look like this, don’t be surprised if they pull me on stage at the next festival – “truly outrageous!” That was a Jem and the Holograms quote in case you didn’t grow up in the 80’s…
