You met and fell with love with the right person, you got the ring (yay!) and now it’s time to plan the wedding! All very exciting things, but many brides-to-be aren’t quite prepared for the serious price tags that come with pretty much anything that the big “W” (wedding) is associated with. I got engaged in January and I’ll be getting married this October. With just 9 months to plan our wedding, it was important for me and my guy to stay aligned on the big decisions (and the price tags attached to them).
My friends at TD recently conducted a survey and found that one third (31%) of Canadian Millennials spent more than they expected on their wedding receptions, and went over budget by an average of 55%. As I put the finishing touches on my own wedding plans, this information rings fairly true to the observations I’ve made throughout the process. I found these wedding planning tips quite reassuring when thinking back to some of the tough “yay or nay” decisions my fiancé and I had to make.
Are you a royal or a rebel? Posh or punk? Next Thursday June 2, SickKids will host the 15th annual Scrubs in the City event, with a playful London Calling theme. Evergreen Brick Works will be transformed with food, fashion and entertainment inspired by London. I’ve attended their previous events and each year I have a great time. It’s even better knowing that it serves a great cause. To-date, the annual event has raised more than $3.5 million in support of some of the most critical needs at the hospital. This year, they’ll be raising funds for a new 3T MRI machine – quieter, faster, bigger and more powerful, it will make the MRI experience less stressful for kids and their families.
This year, guests will enjoy surprise musical entertainment (think The Beatles, Spice Girls and David Bowie), delicious food and drinks showcasing the “city of contrasts”. An exclusive silent auction is already available to guests and non-guests online, including luxury one-of-a-kind items such as a Mulberry Kite Tote, an 18 kt White Gold and Diamond Bangle Bracelet from Mark Lash, or two night’s accommodation in an Owner’s Suite at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, among other items. There will also be an exciting draw for a chance to win diamond jewellery from Penwarden, a London travel package and a 2016 Mini Cooper. The total value of auction and draw prizes is over $120,000!
I’m not sure what I’ll be wearing yet, but I’ll be there, will you? Tickets are available for $195 CAD at www.SKScrubs.com.
Want to WIN a pair of tickets to SickKids Scrubs in the City? Enter using the Rafflecopter form below. At a minimum, you must leave me a blog post comment telling me your outfit ideas for the event. In the past year, I’ve moved from a 600 square foot condo, to a 1200 square foot townhouse, to a 2500 square foot detached home! Needless to say, I’ve finally found my dream home and I don’t want to move again anytime soon! With all of this extra space, cleaning takes quite a bit longer, but with my new Dyson V6 Absolute vacuum, cleaning the floors has never been so easy!
Vacuuming was always my household chore growing up. I think back to central vac with those heavy-duty hoses, stand up vacs with big awkward bags that were so messy to change, and those wheel-around vacs with cords that would get tangled around every corner. With the Dyson V6 Absolute cordless vacuum, those headaches are gone!
Exciting news for online shoppers! I don’t know about you, but I make most of my purchases online and I’m always thrilled when I see PayPal as an option at checkout. I trust PayPal and can pay directly from my preferred bank account or credit card without having to scramble to get the number. As much as I love the convenience of online shopping, it comes with a few risks – Will it fit? Will I like it as much once I see it in person? Is that REALLY what I ordered?! Turns out, 40% of Canadians have those same fears. Well, fear no more! My friends at PayPal Canada announced Return Shipping on Us yesterday!
PayPal’s Return Shipping on Us service aims to boost consumer confidence and drive online retail by refunding shipping costs on eligible online purchases within Canada and around the world. To be honest, I’ve actually bit the bullet on a few failed online shops because I didn’t want to pay the return shipping – sometimes it can cost as much as the product itself!
PayPal now offers Return Shipping on Us in nearly 40 countries. In Canada, the service allows up to 10 refunds on eligible online purchases per calendar year. Simply opt-in for the service online and you can request a refund of up to $30 per purchase within two weeks of mailing the return! Join now for free…
Thanks PayPal Canada – I’ll enjoy online shopping even more with your new Return Shipping on Us service!
As someone who works full time from home, I make my own coffee each morning and as I previously wrote about, I make my own smoothies for lunch. I save tons of money compared to my days working in an office and buying my breakfast and lunch each day, but sometimes I miss the luxury of a latte or espresso based morning beverage. Sure, I can get into my car to go get one, and sometimes I do for the opportunity to step away from my desk for a little break, but most of time, I settle for homemade drip coffee. Until now! My friends at Nespresso graciously sent me a brand new Nespresso VertuoLine Evoluo coffee maker as a housewarming gift! Needless to say, it looks great in my new kitchen and my hubby-to-be and I have been loving it!
I used to think Nespresso machines could only make espresso shots and that didn’t appeal to me because I prefer a tall coffee or latte. The new Nespresso VertuoLine Evoluo machine makes both! I purchased some regular coffee capsules as well as some espresso capsules to give me the ultimate variety right in the comfort of my own home.
