It’s hard to believe that the summer is almost over! I know, I nearly hissed at myself for saying it, but time flies when you’re having fun right?! I’ve been busy preparing for my fall wedding and taking as many weekend getaways as I can! Late last month, I knocked Oro-Medonte, Ontario off my list with a fun-filled summer getaway at WayHome Music & Arts Festival.

My fiancé and I hopped in the car after work that Friday and we were relaxing on the lawn watching some our favourite bands by 7pm! Thanks to the reliable TELUS mobile network, we enjoyed #ConnectedMoments all weekend long.

With summer in full swing, we need to take advantage of this beautiful (and often short-lived) Ontario weather while it lasts! I like to save my international travel as an escape during the winter season – why leave Ontario in the summer when there’s so much to do locally?! This year, I’m saving all of my official vacation time for my honeymoon in Bali this fall, so it’s all about those quick weekend getaways this summer!

I’ve never been one to struggle with meeting the recommended daily water intake (10-11 cups) – I just love water! I’m fortunate enough to have a really awesome fridge that pours filtered water to avoid waste with my daily water consumption. That said, when I do have to buy water, I try to avoid plastic water bottles. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve just partnered with Boxed Water as their newest Ambassador!

Boxed Water is a socially conscious packaged-water company that is re-thinking the way water is sold, shipped and consumed. As an alternative to bottled water, they reduce the use of non-renewable resources and plastic waste with their paper-based packaging. The Boxed Water box is made from 74% paper that comes from well-managed forests and the entire carton is recyclable and 100% BPA free!

You met and fell with love with the right person, you got the ring (yay!) and now it’s time to plan the wedding! All very exciting things, but many brides-to-be aren’t quite prepared for the serious price tags that come with pretty much anything that the big “W” (wedding) is associated with. I got engaged in January and I’ll be getting married this October. With just 9 months to plan our wedding, it was important for me and my guy to stay aligned on the big decisions (and the price tags attached to them).

My friends at TD recently conducted a survey and found that one third (31%) of Canadian Millennials spent more than they expected on their wedding receptions, and went over budget by an average of 55%. As I put the finishing touches on my own wedding plans, this information rings fairly true to the observations I’ve made throughout the process. I found these wedding planning tips quite reassuring when thinking back to some of the tough “yay or nay” decisions my fiancé and I had to make.
