I recently teamed up with my friends at Medulla & Co. salon for a fun and playful festival style photo shoot. We have so much fun when we collaborate and the results are always FABULOUS hair! This time, since we’re in the middle of festival season, my favourite hair gurus pulled together some amazing festival-worthy hair styles.
I love how both looks incorporate colourful hair extensions in totally different ways! I mean if you can’t play with colour for music festival season – when can you?! Keep reading to see more photos from the shoot, including the full outfits!
This summer I’m all about soft, romantic silhouettes and fabrics…ok, who am I kidding? That’s every summer! I spotted this Lovers + Friends dress on Shopbop last month and I couldn’t resist picking it up. I love the lace-up neckline, comfortable elastic waist and sheer sleeves in romantic summer lace. It’s the perfect dress for a summer date night.
Dress: Lovers + Friends from Shopbop, Necklace: LiliClaspe, Bag: Rok Cork, Shoes: Zara
Since the sleeves are sheer, they breathe really well so you can wear it on a summer day without getting overheated. It’s one of those dresses that makes getting ready so quick and effortless – you don’t need a lot of accessories and it looks best with soft and natural makeup.
As someone who has worked from home for the past three years, it’s been a while since I’ve worn a suit or a blazer + skirt/slacks combo. When I worked in the financial services industry, I wore this “uniform” 4-5 days per week for nearly 6 years! As much as I love the comfortable and casual style that my current job affords me, sometimes I miss the opportunity to get dressed up like this. When my friend and fabulous Toronto-based designer Rachel Sin asked me to show off my “Desk to Drinks” style with her SS’16 collection, I jumped at the opportunity to play professional dress up once again!
Blazer, Skirt & Tank: Rachel Sin, Shoes: Aldo, Necklace: Jennybird, Handbag: Uppdoo, Sunglasses: Givenchy
I’ve never been a big fan of dress pants, mostly because I can never find the right fit for my narrow waist and wider hips. For that reason, I often wore pencil skirts with blouses and blazers or dresses at the office. The Sky High Skirt and matching blazer from Rachel Sin is the perfect office outfit for the spring/summer season.
Surprise, surprise… I bought another over-the-shoulder dress! I can’t get enough of them this summer! They’re so comfortable and effortlessly chic with the added bonus of no strappy tan lines. I picked up this pale blue linen number at one of my new favourite online shops – Reformation. Be careful ladies, the dresses on this site are seriously addictive!

The relaxed fitting Tennessee Dress takes the over-the-shoulder trend to a new level with an oversized ruffle bodice and mini-pockets. It’s the perfect length to wear with sneakers or flat sandals for a casual day time look. I styled it with my new Feiyue white sneakers from DSW for a cute athleisure look.
Every spring/summer wardrobe needs an easy breezy shirtdress. You can wear it to work and straight to the patio for happy hour afterwards! I found this floral version at Aritzia and I love the lightweight yet fully lined silk georgette fabric, the flattering curved hemline and the adjustable cinched waist.
Dress: Aritzia, Shoes: Geox, Bag: Sneha Varma, Sunglasses: Clearly.ca, Leather Jacket (shown below): Mango in Paris
I styled my new shirtdress with a simple cross-body bag, sunnies and a pair of Amalthia slip-on shoes from Geox. Since the dress is relatively short, I think it looks best with flat shoes or sandals.
